Peanut Butter Blossoms

The holidays are when I become enthusiastic about baking traditional desserts. Sure, I could give  a “healthy” spin on these Peanut Butter Blossoms but let’s get real, you don’t want that. You want bona fide, true blue cookies. And that’s what these babies are. Real ingredients, made from scratch, perfect for gifting, even if its to yourself.

Desserts, especially cookies, are better with real ingredients. Not just in taste but for your health. Studies show that processed fat free baked goods tend to be higher in sugar, and without the fat (which causes satiety) we end up eating more to feel satisfied. To make these blossoms a little more wholesome, I opted for natural peanut butter instead of the processed stuff. Use what you have.




1 stick of butter + 3/4 cup creamy Peanut Butter + 1/3 cup granulated sugar + 1/3 cup packed brown sugar + 1 egg + 2 tablespoons milk + 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour + 1 teaspoon baking soda + ½  teaspoon salt + 24 Hershey Kisses


1.Preheat oven to 375.

2.Blend peanut butter and butter using mixer. Add in sugars, egg, milk and vanilla extract.

3.In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda. Slowly add to other ingredients and blend. Form cookie dough into 1 inch balls and place on a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper.

4.Bake for 8-10 minutes, remove from oven and immediately add a single kiss to center of each cookie.
