1.You guzzle caffeine past noon. And for some of us that’s fine but if your system is sensitive, having a cola or a coffee after twelve may keep you up when you really need to hit the hay. According to a study published in Scientific America, while some bodies empty of caffeine in a few hours, some retain it for most of the day. Skip the stimulants and see if your zzz’s improve.
2.Your schedule is unpredictable. Humans are creatures of habit and if you fall asleep at midnight one evening and then eight the next, expect your body to be confused. 3.You exercise right before bed. Most forms of exercise boosts energy so if you need to wind down, it’s not a great idea to hit the running track right before. Try making time for fitness two to three hours before you want to be asleep and see if that helps.
4.Your mattress sucks. How can you expect to sleep when you’re laying on something with no support? Experts recommend to replace a mattress every eight years.
5.You’re stressed out and we get it, who can close their eyes when there’s so much going on? But hear us, being sleep deprived contributes to more anxiety. To ease your tension, try creating a relaxing routine before bed, like taking a bath or doing some breathing exercises. Shut off electronics like your cell and tablet an hour before you want to sleep and try unwinding with more mellow activities like journaling or listening to music.
