How is Your Fitness IQ?

It seems like we’re becoming smarter when it comes to health. Think about it, most of us, whether we care or not, know the virtues of kale, what paleo is and have attempted a  HIIT workout at least once. We’re on the up and up, right? Not really, according to a new poll released by Bowflex Insider.

Surveying 1,038 men and women, ages 18 and older, the poll results show we still have a way to go to becoming more savvy about nutrition and fitness. Only 36 percent of participants knew that it took a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose a pound and a mere 26 percent knew that the recommended daily serving of sugar is 25 grams. Very depressing.

Although the results are dismal, have hope. Thanks to numerous print and digital publications, apps, and social media tools, it’s easier than ever to buff up on information. The fact you’re even reading this tells us you’re above the curve.

  1. I got 12 right. Not bad compared to most I guess. Really interesting to see how little people know and yet not so surprising either when you look around at everybody.
